MISSIONS

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matt 28:18-20, NKJV)

POLICY:  At Indian Springs Baptist Church, we put a high priority on Missions and see that each of us are called to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord.   We look to the Mission Committee to provide leadership in this area to lead the church to effectively carry out the Great Commission through various local, national, and international mission efforts.  [Return to Top]

GIVING:  Priorities of individuals and churches can be measure somewhat by the allocation of available resources.  ISBC budgets 20% to Missions.  [Return to Top]

Indian Springs Community Mission: The Indian Springs Community Mission is a cooperative effort of five area churches, two service clubs and the Indian Springs Community Chest. The purpose of the mission is "To provide or obtain help for people with needs in the Indian Springs Community." By providing a centralized and coordinated effort we can provide better help for those with real needs and can reduce the incidents of abuse.

The Mission is housed in the basement of Sunnyside Baptist Church.
Current organizational membership is as follows:
Churches: Cassidy United Methodists, Emory United Methodists, Indian Springs Baptist, Indian Springs Christian, and Sunnyside Baptist.
Service Clubs: Indian Springs Optimists and Indian Springs Ruritans
Others: Indian Springs Community Chest   [Return to Top]

Elim Haven is a ministry to the Navajo people that began in the early 1950's. Tom Shelton and his wife, Charlene, went to Elim Haven several years ago to rebuild the ministry. Their first service was attended by a grandmother and her three grandchildren. Since that time, the congregation has grown to over 100 people and the Church is self-sufficient.

We have helped to erect a  water tank, remodel the guest house to include a second shower facility, tile bathrooms in the fellowship hall and upholster pews in their new sanctuary. The reason for the new water tank is to 1) increase the water capacity in order that more groups can participate in the ministry, and 2) the current tank is rusted with water seeping from the welds. The shower will also add to more groups being able to participate in the work at Elim Haven.

In addition to the work, school and personal packets were distributed to students and parents on the reservations. [Return to Top]

WOMEN ON MISSION:  Women on Mission® is a missions organization for women (ages 18 and up) through which women pray for and give to missions, do missions, learn about missions, grow spiritually toward a missions lifestyle, and participate in the work of the church and the denomination.

The purpose of all Women on Mission activities is that every person have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.

The "heart" of Women on Mission is to help women create their own missions vision by enabling them to:
• recognize their status in Christ.
• find an entry point to fulfill Christ’s purpose in their lives.
• reflect the highest ideals of Christian living.
• see their lives as set apart for the gospel.
• affirm God’s call both individually and corporately.
• reach beyond themselves to a global vision.
• commit to a rewarding missions lifestyle
